GNSS surveying just got a whole lot easier.
The ppm10xx zero GNSS sensor also records positions at an angle.
With the ppm10xx zero, ppm GmbH is launching a GNSS sensor that provides centimeter-accurate position data even at an inclination of up to 60°. ppm GmbH will be presenting its latest product for the first time at Intergeo in Berlin (October 10-12, 2023) in Hall 25, Booth A25.37.
“Our mission is to make the collection of positional data as easy as possible without sacrificing accuracy,” said Michael Singer, managing director of ppm GmbH. “In close cooperation with our customers, we develop innovative solutions that are precisely tailored to the needs of the users. The new ppm10xx zero makes measuring easier at a highly competitive price, despite being completely manufactured in Germany.”
Even when the measuring rod is tilted up to 60°, positional data can be recorded with centimeter-level accuracy. This is made possible by the integrated IMU, which reliably compensates for the tilt. This eliminates the need to look at a circular level, which normally indicates the plumb position of the measuring rod. For users, the option of measuring at an angle means significantly greater flexibility. The ppm10xx zero also makes light work of measuring in corners where it is not possible to set up the measuring rod vertically.
The measuring rod itself is as ergonomic as possible. To avoid the often cumbersome top-heaviness, ppm GmbH uses a lightweight helix antenna and has installed all heavy components in the center of the measuring rod. At 170 grams, the sensor itself is hardly noticeable.
In addition, the ppm10xx zero requires fewer cables, which makes it even easier to use: the integrated battery allows the device to work independently for up to 15 hours. This means that no power cables are required. When using the inclination sensor, the battery life is reduced to approximately 9 hours. The connection between the ppm10xx zero and the recording device is also wireless, using an internal, energy-saving Bluetooth Low Energy module. Any tablet or smartphone with an Android operating system can be used as a recording device. ppm GmbH offers a variety of custom-fit holders for current devices. This means that users do not have to get used to a new device, but can simply work with their familiar hardware.
Despite all the simplifications, the ppm10xx zero impresses above all with its high data accuracy: the GNSS sensor processes the signals of several satellite navigation systems, namely GPS (from the USA), GALILEO (Europe), BEIDOU (China) and GLONASS (Russia). This means that a solution is available even in locations that are usually difficult to measure, such as under leafy trees or in street canyons.
For seamless integration of data into almost any GIS software, ppm Commander is used, which acts as a link between the systems and transfers the data without any loss of accuracy.
The ppm10xx zero with antenna rod is available from a net price of €5,890.
